Theres a safari park 15 mins away, several golf courses and plenty walking areas. Denia boasts to be the "city of palms" and they are beautiful, it's not a concrete city like many others on the Spanish east coast and the town is full of cafes, tapas and happy people with up market shopping and local markets. The new marina is worth meandering around to soak up the ambience, then a walk along Las Rotas a pathway coastal walk with cafes and fish restaurants along the way. Water sports also in the warm sea which is pretty calm in this area, so good for children. Further along the coast theres surf waves. Valencia has Europes largest recreation - art and science area with a huge marine park. There is a book of info in the apartment with things to do/see. It's a perfect location just 2 mins walk from the med beach, a few shops and palm tree lined play area /park for children, yet also within striking distance of the most amazing scenery slightly inland of the mountains towards Parcent or Guadalest.
